Bridgestone Launches BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 Motorcycle Tyre
Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) today announced the launch of BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42, an adventure motorcycle tyre that will become available sequentially in countries worldwide starting January 1, 2027¹. Under the concept of ‘the answer to the road-going adventurers’, BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 is designed to deliver an excellent balance of safety, peace of mind, economy, and comfort for adventure riders who primarily ride on-road. From city streets to expressways and winding roads, the tyre achieves an optimal balance of wet performance and wear life while helping reduce tyre noise while riding, supporting comfortable long-distance touring.
Improving a Proven Foundation
Adventure motorcycles are recognised for their versatility, ranging from urban riding to long-distance travel. In the European market, demand for tyres in this category has increased by 45% over the past decade2.
Bridgestone launched the BATTLAX ADVENTURE A41 in December 2017 to address the primary needs of riders in this growing segment, including strong wet performance during sudden rainfall, improved wear resistance and comfort on long-distance journeys. Building on its predecessor’s proven foundation, the BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 further supports these essential riding needs by delivering improvements in each area:
- Enhanced Wet Performance: The BATTLAX A42 reduces tyre slip ratio under straight-line acceleration by 14% compared to the previous model3, contributing to stable riding even in rain.
- Extended Wear Life: The new BATTLAX A42 delivers longer wear life than its predecessor at both tyre positions, with 18% longer life at the front and 25% longer life at the rear3.
- Reduced Tyre Noise: With a larger contact patch, the new BATTLAX A42 tyre is designed to deliver greater riding stability and comfort. In internal testing, it reduced tyre noise by 15% compared to the previous model3.
Engineering and Technological Advancements
The new Bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURE A42 road adventure tyre achieved improved performance over its predecessor thanks to new tread compounds, an adventure-inspired tread pattern and optimised construction. The upgraded tyre construction leverages the core details of the BATTLAX lineup while incorporating new materials and design choices tailored for road-oriented adventure bikes.
- Optimised Compound Formula: The front tyre compound of the BATTLAX A42 uses a flexible polymer to improve road-surface grip, while the rear compound uses a polymer that enhances wear resistance and mileage. Both compounds include optimised silica and carbon content that achieves a high level of balance between wet performance and tyre life.
- New Pattern Design: Inheriting the design lineage of the latest BATTLAX lineup4, the tyre features an aggressive yet refined new tread pattern suited to adventure motorcycles. In addition to incorporating “Pulse Groove” water drainage technology5, the tyre boosts pattern stiffness through a revised groove layout to improve the overall balance of wet performance, wear life and quietness.
