Bridgestone Potenza Sport EVO races to double test success

Bridgestone's Potenza Sport EVO is turning heads faster than corners, after securing a major test victory with What Car? and a coveted Recommended award in evo's summer tyre test.

The double success represents a significant endorsement for Bridgestone, with the ultra-high performance tyre impressing independent testers across a range of wet and dry performance measures, combining ‘outstanding grip, precise handling and reassuring driver feedback.’

In What Car?'s latest summer tyre test, the Potenza Sport EVO finished top of the 11 tyres evaluated, with testers particularly impressed by its sure-footed performance and predictable handling in both wet and dry conditions.

Fitted to the Volvo XC60 test vehicle, the tyre delivered communicative steering and the confidence-inspiring characteristics expected of a premium performance tyre.

The results also highlighted the potentially life-saving importance of tyre choice, with the Bridgestone stopping 7.3 metres shorter than the Goodride competitor in the wet braking test.

What Car? concluded that the Potenza Sport EVO was ‘well worth paying extra for, underlining the benefits of investing in quality tyres.’

The latest accolade follows an equally impressive performance in evo's summer tyre test, where the Potenza Sport EVO secured the publication's Recommended award after finishing second overall. Despite narrowly missing out on the top spot, the Bridgestone was arguably the standout performer across the individual disciplines, recording an impressive five first-place finishes across the wet and dry tests.

evo praised its ‘exceptional grip, traction and stability on wet asphalt, alongside its predictable behaviour and outstanding driver feedback.’ In the dry, it finished just 0.2 metres behind the best performer in the braking test before setting the fastest time around the handling course, becoming the only tyre to break the 51-second barrier.

The publication also awarded it the highest subjective rating, praising its polished and effortless performance.

Drew Chapman, Consumer Sales Director, Bridgestone UK, said: "To achieve such outstanding results in two highly respected independent tyre tests is a fantastic endorsement of the Potenza Sport EVO and the engineering that has gone into its development.

"Winning the What Car? test against 10 other competitors, while also securing evo's Recommended Award and five individual test victories, demonstrates the tyre's exceptional breadth of capability.

"These results reflect exactly what we set out to achieve with the Potenza Sport EVO; delivering outstanding performance, control and confidence in a wide range of driving conditions. It's hugely rewarding to see that recognised by independent experts."
