Bridgestone launches the new Blizzak 6 ENLITEN, the next generation of its multi-award-winning winter tyre

Summary
  • According to independent TÜV SÜD tests, Bridgestone’s latest premium winter touring tyre is a top-rated tyre for snow braking and traction1, and offers the shortest stopping distance on wet roads.2
  • Successor to the 23-test-winning Bridgestone Blizzak LM005, the new flagship winter tyre delivers 32 per cent better mileage than its previous generation.3
  • Developed with Bridgestone’s ENLITEN tyre technology platform, the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN is engineered to meet both the general performance demands of any vehicle and the specific requirements of electric vehicles.

Bridgestone, a global leader in premium tyres and sustainable mobility solutions, is today announcing its new premium winter touring tyre. The new EV (electric vehicle)-ready Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN delivers superior snow performance1, best-in-class wet braking2 and enhanced mileage.3

With wet conditions the most common challenge encountered by European drivers during winter4, the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN is engineered to deliver leading wet weather performance. The tests carried out by TÜV SÜD, one of Europe’s most respected independent automotive testing institutes, found the new Bridgestone’s winter tyre to deliver the shortest stopping distance on wet roads.2

Designed for every winter road condition, the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN also offers enhanced snow performance over its predecessor, providing excellent mobility and control, and was named a top-rated tyre for snow braking and traction by independent TÜV SÜD.1

Bridgestone’s new flagship winter product also delivers a huge upgrade in mileage, with a 32 per cent longer wear life than its predecessor, the multi-award-winning Blizzak LM005.3 This ensures resource efficiency, and by extending the tyre’s life by nearly a third – equivalent to an additional winter season – also unlocks cost savings for drivers.

The Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN’s enhanced performance is enabled by ENLITEN Technology, Bridgestone’s innovative approach to tyre development. In this specific case, the ENLITEN tyre technology platform is combined with a variety of innovations in tread and compound design – including optimised pattern and compound matching, enhanced evenness in the tyre’s wear profile and optimised sipes distribution. The use of ENLITEN Technology also ensures that 25 per cent of the tyre is made using recycled and renewable materials.

Thanks to the introduction of ENLITEN Technology, Bridgestone’s new premium winter touring tyre is also EV-ready. The tyre is engineered to meet both the general performance demands of any vehicle and the specific requirements of electric vehicles, supporting Bridgestone’s commitment to making EVs more efficient and accessible.

Engineered and produced in Europe, the new Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN will be available across the region from May 2024. The tyre will be available in 189 long sizes from 16 to 22-inch variations, with 54 new sizes. Additional sizes will be launched in 2025.

Speaking on this announcement was Bridgestone EMEA Group President, Laurent Dartoux: “With an incredible 23 test wins since 2020, the Blizzak LM005 has set the bar high, but with the Blizzak 6 ENLITEN we have taken things to another level. Our expert team has created a premium winter tyre that can handle whatever winter throws at it. Thanks to ENLITEN Technology, the Bridgestone Blizzak 6 ENLITEN is an EV-ready tyre that delivers maximum safety and performance while improving its sustainability characteristics. In line with the Bridgestone E8 Commitment, this launch marks another milestone as we accelerate towards our vision for a sustainable future of mobility.”
